INTRODUCING THE COWBOY CROC EMBOSSED BOOT
A modern icon rooted in tradition
This fall, we’re proud to introduce one of our most exciting new arrivals: the Cowboy Rock Boot in pressed croc cappuccino.
Crafted in collaboration with legendary bootmaker Fabricio Montelosi—someone I’ve worked with for over 20 years—this design merges decades of bootmaking heritage with a distinctly modern attitude. I used one of Fabricio’s classic lasts and reimagined it with a rich, mock croc finish for a bold, fashion-forward feel.
My history with cowboy boots goes back to the '80s, when I was designing for Fred Segal Melrose. Back then, I was the first to tighten the shaft, straighten the top, and introduce what’s known as a walking heel—a sleek, wearable alternative to the traditional clunky cowboy heel. I partnered with brands like Tony Lama and Justin, and those innovations were a huge success.
But cowboy boots, to me, have always been more than Western—they’re global. They’re timeless. And right now, they’re having a major fashion moment.
So when I design a cowboy boot, I don’t want it to scream “rodeo.” I want it to feel like cowboy rock and roll. It should be wearable, cool, and versatile. You can pair this boot with leather pants, a skirt and tights, cutoff denim, classic jeans, or even tailored slacks. It dresses up and down effortlessly.
And most importantly—it has longevity. This isn’t a boot you’ll retire next season. I always ask myself, could this piece have been worn in the '60s, '70s, '80s, or '90s? If the answer is yes, then I know it’s going to work now, and years from now. That’s the standard for great design.
I don’t follow trends. I’ve always found it strange how a magazine can decide pink is hot one season, and then dismiss it the next. If a color or silhouette is beautiful, it always is. I don’t believe in disposable fashion—or in designing to keep up with fast-changing trends. That mindset is how you end up with closets full of shoes you never wear.
I want Madison Maison to stand on its own—independent of fleeting fashion rules. This boot is a perfect example of that. It’s stylish, substantial, and thoughtfully constructed. And yes, it’s incredibly comfortable. Unlike traditional cowboy boots, which require breaking in the shank before they form to your foot, ours are soft and flexible from the very first wear. The rubber sole adds comfort and durability, making it perfect for travel or everyday life.
The cappuccino croc you see here isn’t real skin—it’s a mock croc, designed to deliver the same richness and texture without using exotic leathers. When I first launched Madison, we worked with genuine alligator, ostrich, and croc. But the world has changed. Our clients have evolved. And so have we.
Today, we believe in luxury with conscience. Farming animals solely for their skin no longer aligns with how we want to create. So we found a phenomenal tannery that could bring this mock croc to life—and I have to say, the results are stunning.
This boot represents everything I love about design: craftsmanship, versatility, longevity, and a bit of rock and roll attitude.
I hope you love it as much as I do.
