What is in the new collection
- The Eight-Point Star. Eight ways to abundance. Balance. Protection.
- The Madison Maison Wordmark. The store name redrawn in April's hand.
- The Marilyn Vance Tribute. A nod to the croc silver high-heeled shoe collaboration, foil star on the back.
- The Evil Eye. Egyptian mythology direction. The back reads, what is dark shall come to light.
- The Divine Rebel. An inspiration from a jacket designer. April put her stamp on it.
Today I am super, super excited to talk about our t-shirt concept, because I think this is going to be off the charts, great for Madison Maison.
This is April. Say hi, April. Hi.
I gave April this t-shirt, which is something I designed about five years ago. And I said, I want you to take this and make it into a much nicer concept than what I did.
Meet April
I met April probably about, I'd say nine months ago. She worked down the street and we got in a conversation and started talking about art. And I said, hey, show me what you got. So she pulled out a few pictures off her phone and I was just blown away.
And I told her, I said, April, you are going to work one day together. And I remember walking away. She gave me this look like, seems like a nice guy, but I think he is a little bit nuts.
So fast forward nine months, we actually started about, I'd say two months ago on the project.
The Eight-Point Star
I had seen a star in Florence about three years ago at a museum that I loved. And then I took it and worked with April, who helped design a big portion of this whole collection. She took it and turned it into an eight-point star.
You can see the artwork is just brilliant. So I think it just came out so beautiful. So we are going to be expanding on this whole collection.
April, on why eight points
So when David asked me to expand on a 16 point star that he had seen in a museum, I decided to do eight. And the reason why is when I do anything, it has to have meaning and purpose.
So historically, the eight point of star has been used in many cultures and it signifies:
- Equilibrium. Masculine and feminine energies in balance.
- Transformation.
- Renewal.
- Eight ways to abundance. The eight different ways for abundance and wealth that one can achieve in one's life.
- Protection. Used as a symbol on an amulet, and woven into some rugs in Eastern cultures for protection against evil.
So that being said, I thought it would be great if people wore this and that it would pertain to their life. And that is what we are going to put out too. Something with meaning and purpose with the spiritual quality to it.
I have done t-shirts before. Not to this level.
The Wordmark and the Marilyn Vance Tribute
Here are another couple of pieces that I worked with April on. I gave her a simple concept. I said, I kind of want you to do something really artsy. And then she transformed it into this, which is incredible art.
She took Madison Maison and did it in a font that made it look really cool. Because if you do Madison Maison in a simple font, it just does not look rich or artistic. But she has got such a great eye. She was able to transform it into art.
And then this is our collaboration that I did with Marilyn Vance on the croc silver shoe. So that is what that represents. It has got some meaning behind the words as well too about fashion that April put together. So I love it. We did a foil star in the back.
The Evil Eye
Another one we had discussed doing something in regards to Egyptian mythology and art related. So she came up with the evil eye. We discussed the evil eye, but she made the evil eye really cool.
You can see evil eyes all the time. You see them and they all look pretty much the same. She took it and changed it into a real beautiful piece of art.
The wording on the back, which we came up with together, is what is dark shall come to light. And again, today that resonates more so than ever.
The Divine Rebel
An inspiration came from Divine Rebel. She does really cool jackets. She had designed these, and April took it and put her stamp on it. I think they came out even nicer.

What does the eight-point star mean

Why eight, not sixteen
David had seen a 16 point star in a museum. April reduced it to eight so the meaning carried into the wearer's life. When she does anything, it has to have meaning and purpose.
Who is April
An artist David met about nine months ago when she worked down the street. He saw her work on her phone and told her, you are going to work one day together. They started on the t-shirt project two months ago.
What is the Marilyn Vance tribute tee
A wearable nod to the croc silver high-heeled shoe collaboration David did with Marilyn Vance. The words across the front speak to fashion. There is a foil star on the back.
What does the evil eye tee say on the back
What is dark shall come to light. David and April came up with the line together.
